Tokyo 2016 - University of Tokyo

We were here at University of Tokyo to visit Dr Dasuke Sakamoto from Computer Science Department. FYI, University of Tokyo is ranked no 1 in Japan and no 28 in the world (2018). There are well-known scientists in my area, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), at this university. Their research usually gives impact to the society and their country.

Since it is the top university in Japan, we took this opportunity to walk around in some parts of the campus. When we arrived at the university, there was an orientation for high school students who might be interested to further their studies here. So, there were many people on the campus although it was a summer holiday.

We spent one day at the university. What is interesting about this university is that their cafe serves halal food. Stories about our exploration are with the pictures.

This is an icon and a landmark for University of Tokyo. You can immediately sense an aura of excellence in the environment
There are many old buildings that represent their establishment and reputations

The statue that symbolises the importance of academics

More bicycles than cars on the campus - great for green environment and a healthy lifestyle. The bicycles have special parking areas and are required to have a sticker to legally park at the university

Me with Aina (left) and Aida (right) at the Conference Hall. The hand fan is free - common in Japan to get it free in the summer
Universities in Japan usually have ponds on their campuses. University of Tokyo also has one.

This is the way to the pond

you have to be careful while walking down the hill...the feelingjust like in the forest

This is a smoking area at the university. You can't simply smoke in the public in the university or even in Japan

Inside there are the cafe, book store and some practice rooms. We prayed Jamak Zuhur & Asar at the upper level of this building

In the cafe during lunch hours. Full of people and it was quite difficult to get a seat.

Some of the food at the cafe are halal. There are both displayed on the menus and at the food counters.

This is an explanation on halal food

Since it was already lunch hour and we were terribly hungry, we decided to eat here in the cafe. So I bought for myself halal chicken meal and fruit salad
