Tokyo 2016 - Odaiba

Day 3 - Odaiba

Odaiba is also known as New Tokyo in which we can see many new, contemporary designed buidings. The area is huge and spacious, unlike in Tokyo and its suburbs. It reminds me a lot of the US.

In here, there are some attractions such as Museum Miraikan (mainly about robots), Sony Explora (a science centre -fun for family & visitors), Toyota Mega Web ( a showcase house), shopping malls, automobile showrooms, and others.

Mini Statue of Liberty is a landmark in Odaiba

Another landmark that symbolises a Japanese culture

There is a boat cruise ride

This Gundam robot is an attraction.

Gundam Cafe that also sells Gundam merchandise for souvenirs

Miraikan Museum - a museum of robots. Highly recommended for children and students. To enter, you need to purchase a ticket. Since we came here as a group, me and my colleague, Dr Iqbal, were free to enter. On top of that, we were given free access to a special exhibition, Ninja

Training to use robots

A view inside the museum from the second floor

The gigantic globe rotates and the screen shows the time and weather condition of a specific country

A live robot exhibition - this Honda robot, Asimo,  demonstrates its ability to move and express like humans and understand human emotions

The world famous theraupetic robot - Paro - a seal - we can touch it, stroke it but can't cuddle or hold because it has been place inside a glass. There is hole on the top of the glass in which you put your hand inside the glass and touch Paro. When you stroke Paro, it feels that you are stroking a cat. Suddenly a feeling of therapy emerges.

Another robot that imitates human emotions

This is a weather girl robot that reports weather conditions

There was a special exhibition only by invitation or we need to purchase the ticket separately. It was the Ninja Exhibition in August 2016

Some of items displayed are the Ninja costume and weapons
