We lived in Lancaster, UK from 2002 to mid 2008. I did my PhD at Lancaster University under supervision of Prof Alan Dix. I started in October 2002 and finished it in April 2008.

Where is Lancaster? Lancaster is in the midwest of England, about 1 hour drive to Manchester (south) & 3 hours drive to Scotland (north). Lancaster is a small town that has a top-ten university in the UK, Lancaster Unviersity. Computer Science at Lancaster University is ranked among the top in the UK.

My family

My three children, Aiman, Azzahra and Arissha, were born in Lancaster. Aiman was born in 2004, Azzahra in 2005 and Arissha in 2008.

Alhamdulillah, I submitted my thesis in February 2008 and successfully defended my PhD work in April 2008. So, I killed three birds with one stone, as an Engligh proverb says.

My eldest daughter went to Lancaster High School and my second one, Addinah, went to Moorside Primary School. While we were there, my husband took an opportunity to do his masters degree at University of Warwick.
